In Memory

Sheri McCray (Foster)

On Sunday, June 12, 2022, our beloved Sheri Ann McCray Foster peacefully passed away surrounded by family members and is now with her Heavenly Father.

A celebration of her life will be on Monday, June 20, 2022. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm with the funeral service at 3:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3000 Old North Road, Denton, TX.

A Flow Memorial Hospital baby and life-long Denton girl, Sheri graduated from Denton High School, NTSU (UNT) and received her master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from TWU. She will be remembered for her kindness and love for everyone she met during her lifetime. She dearly loved her family and friends and would say so often.

Sheri had a lifelong love of music and dance which led to her many years as a majorette at DHS and NTSU. In all levels of her education, she earned awards, both academic and for her talents. She was also a Chi Omega. She was a wonderful and caring teacher to numerous pre-K students and kindergartners in her teaching career. Sheri relished seeing their little faces when the "light bulb came on"! Her creative mind led her down many paths - she loved to stitch and sew, play the piano or guitar and sing. She also decorated everything in sight for the holidays! She endeared herself to everyone, was compassionate, fair and stood up for what she believed to be right and true - personally and professionally.

Her parents, Ernest A and Virginia McCray, took the family on memorable vacations to Colorado, Wyoming, California and Canada where she loved to ride horses and appreciate the beauty of God’s creations. Sheri had a deep and abiding faith from an early age. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she faithfully served as a teacher and leader in children's and youth programs for many decades as well as being a long-time advisor to Lambda Delta Sigma university women. She loved to travel with numerous trips to Hawaii, Utah and other places.

Sheri is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Jeff Foster, sons Jeffery Lee Foster, Golden Brant Foster, Forrest Taylor Foster, his wife Rachel, and their sons Elliott and Quinton. Also, her brother, Ernie McCray, her sister-in-law Debbie Henderson and nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to defray the astronomical expenses incurred during the months of hospital ICU stays that Sheri endured. If you find it in your heart and are able to donate, message Jeff for details
